‘Not a Poem --a ‘Ramble’

delicious words in my archive
are cooped up,
sequestered, shrouded,
fed up and souped up,

I’m going to turn them loose
this rainy day,
going to open the gate,
let ‘em out to play!

‘Svelte’ ‘Lithe’ and ‘Lissom’
entice you to kiss ‘em,

So, you have a poodle?
Well, I have a ‘Boodle’

‘Blither’ and ‘Slither’, ‘Ramble and ‘Gambol’
‘Defenestrate’ (throw out the window!)

‘Insipid’ my tea
(it’s oolong for me)

there’s gilt and there’s loot
and ‘Lucre’ to boot
then there’s ‘Boodle’ and ‘Pelf’
that I keep for myself
--plain old ‘Money’ gets tedious honey.

Quotidian, quiddity,
are queer but still sweet to me,
the news is, I love them Q’ses,

‘Bivouac’, ‘Pithy’, ‘Acumen’, ‘Allure’
I just can’t help it, I’ve got to say more!

‘Aureate’ is a light shade of yellow,
‘Dude’ or ‘Bloke’ I like more than 'Fellow',

sorry, ‘Celerity’ is not about celery
nor is ‘Eschew’ a snack made of S’s

‘Martinet’ is not a wee little Martin,
and dour isn’t a do-er,

some amass gilt but always feel guiltless,
in Pisa, save one, all the turrets are tilt-less,

‘Trifling’, and ‘Footling’, and ‘Footle’,
I can’t get those words from my noodle,

I love ‘Filch’ and ‘Purloin’
one sounds like sirloin
--and also it purrs,
reminding of hers

Did you know she had a mean ‘Mien’?
Well don’t be a fool,
a ‘Mewl’ is no mule
surely, oh surely, you see,

she was ‘Winsome’
then lose some
abuse some,
and booze some

she would thrill me
fulfill me,
distill me
then chill me

but this ‘Naif’ in my heart
didn’t kill me.
