Farmerman - they let ME be a guide! You think you gonna be over-monitored by a nut like me?

Glad to hear those last few responses. This is a wonderful site and I intend to be a committed member.

Gonna get rid of that "newbie" soon!

nimh, terrydoo -

Good points, both rated "Valuable" by me!

I've met 2 abuzzers and look forward to meeting more of the same group of wonderful people (a2k London meet thread) on 20 March!

I'm sure there are some of you I'll never meet in the real, physical, world, but that doesn't make you any less real in my life.

I'm much happier now I've come over here - I was struggling to get the same enjoyment out of abuzz any more.

KP

I gotta tell you that I spent two wonderful years over in England (lots of it in London) a long while back. I wish my circumstances would permit me to visit again -- and I would be sure to attend the London get together.

But I will be there with my good wishes.

Well, Frank, It is great to see you here. We may not always agree on certain things, but you certainly have an excellent way of disagreeing Laughing

Welcome to A2K!

As I look around, I see that the posts of individuals whose posts I used to look for at abuzz, ...are here. SO, that means that we can still kidnap some of the remaining "non-wackos" who are still on abuzz exclusively and secret them here. People like 400...- (forget his last name) , hes a walkin education in modern art , I think he knew most of the artists. Another is Terry(no last name) she is a very calm , well reasoned poster on many science threads.

<sigh> I'd forgotten about Terry. . .Every time I saw one of her posts I'd think "I didn't write that!" LOL Perhaps she'll show up if you invite her.

Re ratings: I vote against ever adding them to A2K. It was too easy to be obsessed with them on Abuzz, which, I freely admit, happened to me. Here one can post more freely--and the personal message option makes it possible to give a person positive (or I suppose negative) feedback.

A2K is wonderful!

I certainly agree with D'artagnon on the ratings system. Too often it was used to express agreement, disagreement, not to note the value of a post. Really, those can be quite different. Some very innovative and interest posts sometimes got mountains of unvaluables because they were contrarian or brought in links to materials disproving prevailing beliefs. I remember once remarking that Bush seemed to be very nice to his dogs. OUCH!

I am a former abuzzer....
Finally got too frustrated with the thing and bailed.

Hoping the weaknesses which are bringing it down do not exist here, and was glad to seesome of the old stalwarts of abuzz sprinkled about.

Feels funny to have 5 posts or so under my name here, and thousands on abuzz. Feeling 'old' for a newbie.

I'd forgotten about this thread.

I started it, then I went away for a couple of weeks (watch the interactions... I'll be posting My Big Fat Hungarian Adventure shortly.

The poll results are about what I expected, although I bet there are some non-aBuzz transfers that did not respond.

Good to see some familiar names. Boomerang, always dear to my heart. Stike, yeah, I like you but not that much.

Anyway. keeps the good words flying. Oh, and by the way... my personal view is that 'smeg' is to A2K as 'Nutella' was to aBuzz... way back when.

NUTELLA- I used to see the word, but never knew what it really was. A few months ago I was in Sam's Club with Mr. Phoenix and what did I see- A HUGE jar of Nutella. As I feverishly placed my hand on it, wanting to finally savor what I had heard about for so long, Mr. P. pronounced the words that has haunted me for years:

"Boy, that looks awfully fattening!" Crying or Very sad

...Seriously though folks. I haven't had an e-mail from Abuzz in over a month. It might be time for that moment of silence. Sad

For all you millions of interested parties, Rolling Eyes once again reports of abuzz' demise, have been greatly exagerated. Apparently, they just haven't seen fit to contact me.... Hmmph! Evil or Very Mad
