The misleading ad on tv, kars4kids, should be banned. It's a charity for Jews only.

.. its proceeds to Oorah, an organization whose mission is to give children and their families opportunities to connect with their Jewish heritage and traditions.
It's not for all children.

Muslims do the same.

@cicerone imposter,
At the very least, they should identify the limits on the help they wish to provide. I always urge folks to check on the amount of their donation and how much goes to administration and how much actually helps the charity recipients.

Just read their mission statement, sometimes in the corporation papers, but for sure in their bylaws.

@PUNKEY,
Many don't go that far to check on a charity. I now give to three: Second Harvest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanities, and St Jude's Children's Hospital (just started after visiting Memphis a few months ago, and seeing the hospital while on the bus.)

@cicerone imposter,
You have rights under the Fair Trading Act (FTA). This means that a business can’t:

Mislead or deceive you by words or conduct. This includes statements in advertising, or any other deceptive conduct in trade. It doesn’t matter if they didn’t intend to mislead you or the general public.

What does "kars4kids" mean to the general public?

Disclosure and Effectiveness Concerns

The organization has been criticized for inadequately disclosing its Jewish educational work. In 2009, Joy for Our Youth paid $65,000 in fines in Pennsylvania; while Kars4Kids paid $65,000 in fines in Oregon in settlements reached with the respective state attorneys general as a result of their contention that the organization had to more clearly state that the beneficiaries were of a "certain religious affiliation." In Oregon, the attorney general added that Kars4Kids failed to disclose that its offer of a "free vacation" for vehicle donors was designed to recruit people to attend timeshare presentations.

In 2017, the Minnesota Attorney General conducted a compliance review and submitted a 300 page report to the IRS. The report found that only 44% of funds raised by Kars4Kids went to good works, and that the charity had invested in a Ponzi scheme, in addition to losing $9.2 million from real estate projects controlled by the second cousin of the Kars4Kids CEO.
