Pay the going rate

The following sentence is taken from a BBC interview with Gary Lineker on the eve of the Champions League match between Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur:

"If they want to keep the likes of Kane and Alli, their star players, they'll have to pay the going rate," he said.

My question is this:

What does "the going rate" mean?

Thank you.

@paok1970,
The current standard or usual price, rate, or salary for something.

@paok1970,
The salaries of top ranking football players are huge. If Spurs want to keep Kane and Alli they will have to pay them more, or another club will come along with a much more lucrative offer.
