Ahead of his time or Ahead of his times

Is it always "(be) ahead of his time" or is "(be) ahead of his times" also possible in some cases?

Fori instance, should I say, "(He was) a leader ahead of his time" or ""(He was) a leader ahead of his times"?

Thank you.

Teal Lime, you got good answers in another place. Ahead of his time; behind the times.
