Was it a lateral pass? In the Seahawks vs Eagles game on 12/3/17 with about 10:00 min left in the 4th, Wilson pitches the ball to McKissic. Not clear to me but NFL rules talk about the respective YARD LINES where the passer releases the ball vs where the receiver touches the ball. Wikipedia talks about whether the ball is thrown in a DIRECTION parallel to or away from the opponent’s goal line. Due to the forward motion of the passer at the time of the pass, the pass could be thrown in a slightly backward direction but still be caught closer to the opponent’s goal line. Which interpretation is used by NFL refs?
