I can't say I completely understand what you're saying.
Is this a riddle?
Would nulla nulla fit for the war club? Thing is - there are hundreds of Aboriginal languages!
I found "opisthosoma" for spider abdomen.
Sorry - can't help with the others - and I keep getting this thread when I search!

fetlock protuberance - could it be ergot?

I thought of that, con. But then I looked it up and that's not what 'ergot' means. Not even close.
According to the Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary, the etymology of "ergot" is that it is French, literally "[male chicken]'s spur" (not sure if there's a filter on A2K which would delete the word!). That might fit. It's the only word M-W has for er?ot.
Ergot is also, in french, some protuberance you can catch with the finger.
A fetlock could have an ergot to facilitate manipulation.

Thankyou everyone for your help.
Hmmm...my dictionary indicates that ergot is a grain disease. Period. (Reminder to self: buy new dictionary.)
mine as well (among other meanings)!
Aaaaah! It IS "Ergot"
3. (far.) a stub, like soft horn, about the size of a chestnut, situated behind and below the pastern joint.
But that isn't really the damn fetlock!!!
Tell that to the damn x-word puzzle creators, Deb. I'm constantly incensed at crossword clues where the answer turns out to be a misuse of the word. Run across 'em all the time.

It's good to see such interest in this puzzle. I will send off my form and hope for the best.

Good luck to all.

The only time I've heard the word fetlock is when discussing horses. I used to ride quite a bit when I was younger. Found a site on horse anatomy. After loading click on fetlock for details.
