Well, sent you a couple of messages--no response, panz. That ain't cool and all that jazz.
I cannot tell you how many Stan Getz cd's I have here, there, and everywhere.
Sorry oh dearest bosom buddy letty bo-betty. Will try to be more scrutinous in the future
Thanks, Panzycomefanzyteeigotanzy.
Dude, you want some awesome jazz, I know just what you need!

Buddy Rich Big Band
-Channel One Suite (MUST HAVE!!!!1!!)

But I don't think that above is what you're looking for - get them anyway! I think you're looking for small ensemble stuff - like this:
Davis / Coltrane
-Straight, No Chaser
-Blue in Green
-So What
Dave Brubeck Quartet
-Take Five
-Blue Rondo A La Turke
-Kathy's Waltz
-Strange Meadowlark
-Everybody's Jumpin'
-Pick Up Sticks
Spyro Gyra
-Slow Burn
-Swing Street
-Fairweather
Fourplay
-Chant
-Flying East
-Amoroso
-Bali Run
Jamie Cullum
-These Are The Days
-The Wind Cries Mary
-Singing in the Rain
-All At Sea
That is the best. Get all that stuff, and you'll never want any more jazz. ...not to say you should stop looking!
I like Brubeck for "cool" jazz because of Paul Desmond's sound on the sax...so laid back it's soporific.
Here's a trio of cool pianists you might have missed.
Mose Allison- Finally recognized as Mr. Cool for his wry lyrics and dry humour, Mose plays a percussive bluesy style of piano that's firmly rooted in the blues.
Box set-Allison in Wonderland
LP's - Local Color
Best Of Mose Allison
Super! He's been backing up Tony Bennett for decades. No one plays behind the singer better except Tommy Flanagan who played piano for Ella for years.

OOPS! dys
Got mixed up with Ralph Sharon
Don Shirley was born in Jamaica, classically trained and gave up music to become a psychologist before returning to performing. Thanks for the tip.
That's pretty cool booman
So it is, Boo. Rabbit Hodges, no?
Johnny of the butterscotch tone I suppose
panz and Boo, Craven, etc. You would love Tom Hanks' Terminal. All the jazz greats are in that movie.
Not certain what you mean by butterscotch, Panz.
hmmmm...butterscotch to denote smooth and rich tones.
Great discription, now that that's cleared up.... rabbit Letty?
Boo, he was called Rabbit because he loved lettuce and such. It's late and I must tuck myself in. More explanation tomorrow.
Calling Letty of the Lyrics........ Just how long is this nap?
My goodness, Boo. Letty of the lyrics is right here. Do you suppose that Craven has enough cool jazz to last him a lifetime?
I realize that this isn't the movie thread, but Sahara is now a movie, Craven. History mysteries are alive and living in the desert.
Ju-u-st in case he doesn't have enough, I'll toss in "Poinciana', from Ahmad Jamal At the Pershing.
