I think the answer is Tropic. Someone posted a great clue on the neoboards....
"ok... for example.. the first color of lottery is RED so find the first RED LETTER. Next it, say, green, find the first GREEN LETTER AFTER THE FIRST RED LETTER and continue on.. you end up with a word that connects to gadgads. add the 2 missing letters. "

The other thing is, if you do that.. you get TropiL The next purple letter after the light blue I is an L... so what does that mean?

i got tropic as well, but by using the winning numbers in the lotto 1,3,9,15,21,28 match it to the letters going across right to left top to bottom and you get tropic
