Well, this could be a week they skip. Maybe they are skipping because of the US Independence Day holiday this weekend. They skip holidays occasionally.

Nothing hidden in the source code that I can see. There is an interesting commented out link to Petpetpet Habitats in the games menu dropdown. Nothing at the link, though.

It's a reverse Fibonacci sequence relating to the number of RANDOM CONTESTS! Each word appears as the last word of the name of the contest. Divide that number by 2 to reach the next one.

Jewellery - 128
Brigade - 64
Now - 32
Pageant - 16
Message - 8
Avatar - 4

... Now, following the sequence, the next number is 2. The last word of the second Random Contest is your answer.

EDIT: I don't think it's possible for me to not get top 250... maybe even a gold upgrade!

Wow, that was quick finding. Technically, it is a geometric sequence with initial value 128 and ratio 1/2. The Fibonacci sequence is 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, ...

I found what I needed to know about the random contest from other sites. Thanks for the clue!

If I want to play the random contest, where do I find it on the official NeoPets site? I know I've seen it before but I can't seem to locate it now.

I got that so fast because I searched Google using the keywords Neopets and two of the most uncommon words I could think of - Pageant and Brigade. One of the hits was the Random Contest entry on the Neodex. I figured the numerical pattern out from there :3

Here's a conundrum: Why is the Mystery Pic answer such a closely-guarded secret, compared to the LC? =p It seems as though the prize is higher on average for MP--or is it that fewer people are competing because there isn't an avatar for it like for LC?

Probably because it's changed more often than the LC. The Mystery Pic is, if I recall, changed twice weekly, whereas the LC is only once. So there's less time to figure it out, and more content to sift through. Let's face it - Neopets is very image-intensive, so it's a lot harder to figure it out, even without the shorter time constraints. It's not like dealing with a math problem or logic puzzle.

I'm still very impressed. I tried using Google to search the Neopets domain, but it didn't find anything as all the words are on different pages. I also tried a general search with all the words, but didn't find anything useful. Even the page you found is missing the contests with the Now and Jewellery words. I was thinking that Jewellery with the unusual British spelling might be a good search as well, but since it isn't on the page, it wouldn't have helped.

Anyway, even getting to the page, you needed to find the other words and then figure out the pattern. Nice work.
