That's just the number of points for making a rainbow Scorchio, not how many blobs it takes.

No. Each small blob only raise the liquid level one line in the vat. Hence 2 are needed for 1 of one color, 6 are needed for 3 of one color, and 18 are needed for 3 of all colors.
