New LC!
Fifteen different farmers each had their own apple orchards. The first farmer had only one apple tree in his orchard, the second farmer had two trees in his orchard, and so on up to fifteen trees for the fifteenth farmer.

At harvest time, each farmer noticed something very peculiar: each tree in the same orchard produced the exact same number of apples. (Note that the number of apples per tree varied from orchard to orchard) And when all fifteen farmers got together to talk about it, they all realized that, if the farmer with eleven trees had given one apple to the farmer with seven trees, and the farmer with fourteen trees had given three apples each to the farmer with nine trees and the farmer with thirteen trees, they'd all end up with the exact same number of apples!

How many apples did all the farmers produce, in total?

1 = 120 / tree = 120
2 = 60 / tree = 120
3 = 40 / tree = 120
4 = 30 / tree = 120
5 =24 / tree = 120
6 = 20 / tree = 120
7 = 17 / tree = 119
8 = 15 / tree = 120
9 = 13 / tree = 117
10 = 12 / tree = 120
11 = 11 / tree = 121
12 = 10 / tree = 120
13 = 9 / tree = 117
14 = 9 / tree = 126
15 = 8 / tree = 120

Take off one apple from #11 and give it to #7, and there is 120 apple in the 7th orchard

Take off three apple from #14 and give it to #13, and there is 120 apple in the 13rd orchard

Take off three apple from #14 and give it to #9, and there is 120 apple in the 9th orchard

15 X 120 = 1800 = ANSWER

it's the first time I got it all alone, so I decide to put it here because this board helped me a lot of time Very Happy

To melodyrose27 :

off course, no!

I didn't start with the first orchard, but with the 15th and the 14th, using my multiplication table...

11 X 11 = 121 - 1 = 120
9 X 14 = 126 - 3 - 3 = 120
15 X 8 = 120

then I checked if it was making sens using 120, and double check my calcul

To fry :

Every tree in a particular orchard have the same number of fruit : «At harvest time, each farmer noticed something very peculiar: each tree in the same orchard produced the exact same number of apples. »

So there are fruits in every tree...

argh
well excuse me.
i usually do solve them on my own, and help with them.
shove it, just this once.
my brain is fried. i spent 6 hours on a college precal final, and if i dont solve it just this once, so what.
just for you, i wont bother with this lenny.
