please solve this problem for me so that i progress to solve other questions of same type
For any positive integer a, let [a] denotes the smallest prime factor of a. which of the following is not equal to [35]?
(A) 10 (B) 15 (C) 45 (D) 55 (E) 75

please any one who can explain it with brief explanation

[35] = 5, so all of them are not equal to [35]

If you were to put brackets around the numbers, then all but [55] would not be equal to [35] since
[10] = 2
[15] = 3
[45] = 3
[55] = 5
[75] = 3

I think markr has noted that since [35] = 5,

only 55 has 5 as its smallest prime factor. All the other has either 2, 3 for its smallest prime number.

to be perfectly honest since the options aren't prime numbers it should give quite the indication that none of the answers are viable
