Love Not Me

Love not me for comely grace,
For my pleasing eye or face,

Nor for any outward part:
No, nor for a constant heart!
For these may fail or turn to ill
Should thou and I sever.

Keep, therefor, a true women's eye,
And love me still, but know not why!
So hast thou the same reason still
to date upon me ever.

Evening Song

Look off, dear Love, across the sallow sands,
And mark yon meeting of the sun and sea;
How long they kiss in sight of all the lands,
Ah! Longer, longer we.

Now, in the sea's vintage melts the sun
As Egypt's pearl dissolved in rosey wine.
And Cleopatra night drinks all 'Tis done,
Love, lay thine hand in mine.

Come forth, sweet stars, and comfort heaven's heart,
Glimmer, ye weaves,'round else unlighted sand;
Oh night! divorce our sun and sky apart
Never our lips, our hands.

Thou

T
hou art not lovelier than lilacs,

---- no,

Nor honeysuckle;

Thou art not more fair

Than small -- white -- single -- poppies,

---I can bear Thy beauty;

Though I bend before thee,

--- though

From left to right,

Not knowing where to go,

I turn my troubled eyes,

Nor here --

-- Nor there

Find any refuge from thee,

Yet I swear

So has it been

With mist,

---- with moonlight, so.

[freely broken into pauses and lines,
all the better to woo your love  ]
from the sonnet, Thou art not lovelier than lilacs, no

"Ain't No Cure For Love"

I loved you for a long, long time
I know this love is real
It don't matter how it all went wrong
That don't change the way I feel
And I can't believe that time's
Gonna heal this wound I'm speaking of
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love
I'm aching for you baby
I can't pretend I'm not
I need to see you naked
In your body and your thought
I've got you like a habit
And I'll never get enough
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love

There ain't no cure for love
There ain't no cure for love
All the rocket ships are climbing through the sky
The holy books are open wide
The doctors working day and night
But they'll never ever find that cure for love
There ain't no drink no drug
(Ah tell them, angels)
There's nothing pure enough to be a cure for love

I see you in the subway and I see you on the bus
I see you lying down with me, I see you waking up
I see your hand, I see your hair
Your bracelets and your brush
And I call to you, I call to you
But I don't call soft enough
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love

I walked into this empty church I had no place else to go
When the sweetest voice I ever heard, whispered to my soul
I don't need to be forgiven for loving you so much
It's written in the scriptures
It's written there in blood
I even heard the angels declare it from above
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love

There ain't no cure for love
There ain't no cure for love
All the rocket ships are climbing through the sky
The holy books are open wide
The doctors working day and night
But they'll never ever find that cure,
That cure for love

Take, Oh, Take Those Lips Away

Take, oh, take those lips away
That so sweetly were forsworn
And those eyes, like break of day,
Lights that do mislead the morn;
But my kisses bring again,
Seals of love, though sealed in vain.

Hide, oh, hide those hills of snow,
Which thy frozen bosom bears,
Oh whose tops the pinks that grow
Are of those that April wears;
But first set my poor heart free,
Bound in those icy chains by thee.

Love

There's the wonderful love of a beautiful maid,
And the love of a staunch true man,
And the love of a babe who's unafraid-
All have existed since time began.
But the most wonderful love, the Love of all loves,
Even greater than the love for Mother,
Is the infinite, tenderest, passionate love
Of one dead drunk for another.

You're the one I love, the one I adore. My only goal in life, the one I live for!
Though we may fight more then we get along I hope our relationship will never go wrong!
I love to be with you, I love you being around I'm so glad I'm the one you found!
Thought I may not show you how much you mean to me.
My love for you will always be,
I know you love me and that you care! That's the reason why I treasure the love that we share,
I want you to know I'm here for you no matter what it is I'll help you through.
You're the one I love the one I adore!
The one I'll love forever more

Sometimes at night, when I look to the sky,
I start thinking of you and then ask myself, why?
Why do I love you? I think and smile,
because I know the list could run on for miles.
The whisper of your voice, the warmth of your touch,
so many little things that make me love you so much.
The way you support me, and help with my emotions,
the way that you care and show such devotion.
The way that your kiss, fills me with desire,
and how you hold me with the warmth of a blazing fire.
The way your eyes shine when you look at me,
lost with you forever is were I want to be.
The way that I feel when you're by my side,
a sense of completion and overflowing pride.
The dreams that I dream, that all involve you,
the possibilities I see and the things we can do.
How you finish the puzzle that lies inside my heart,
how that deep in my soul, you are the most important part.
I could go on for days, telling of what I feel,
but all you really must know is my love for you is real.

I remember that day
Like it was yesterday
It was filled with love that was sent from above
I remeber your beautiful face and your sweet kisses of taste
But most of all your smile
That was worth walking a mile
We held each other so tight
It felt so good, to be by your side
You body against mine,
Together we make the sunshine.

Today i had the chance to tell you i loved you,
today i had the chance to say i wanna be your boo,
today i had the chance to say Ur my boy,
and the chance to tell you my feelings are true.
today i failed to tell you you fill my body and soul,
i failed to tell you you make me whole,
i failed to say i wanna be with you along the way,
i failed to tell you ill love you each and everyday.
yesterday i had the chance to say the same,
but i was to scared you'd think it was stupid and lame,
to scared that you'd never talk to me again,
to scared you'd be another lost friend.
iv always had the chance to tell you how i feel,
to tell you these word are real,
but every time i try,
i get a little shy,
boy i wish you new,
these feelings make me wanna cry.
I'm just scared that tomorrow i wont have the chance,
i wont have the pleasure to see your face for another glance.
i wont be able to give you all of me,
wont be able to love you at this degree.
I'm scared you might be gone and i might not have the chance,
so lets hold on to today,
take my hand and well have one last dance.
one last ride,
imma stand tall and show you my pride,
because sometimes i get scared,
i wanna break down and hide.
but i just wanna hold on to today,
tell you i love you today,
tell you i wanna be with you till my dying day.
i wanna say,
you make me happy in every single way.

Love 20 cents the First Quarter Mile

All right. I may have lied to you and about you, and made a
few pronouncements a bit too sweeping, perhaps, and
possibly forgotten to tag the bases here or there,
And damned your extravagance, and maligned your tastes,
and libeled your relatives, and slandered a few of your
friends, O. K. ,
Nevertheless, come back.

Come home. I will agree to forget the statements that you
issued so copiously to the neighbors and the press,
And you will forget that figment of your imagination, the
blonde from Detroit;
I will agree that your lady friend who lives above us is not
crazy, bats, nutty as they come, but on the contrary rather
bright,
And you will concede that poor old Steinberg is neither a
drunk, nor a swindler, but simply a guy, on the eccentric
side, trying to get along.
(Are you listening, you bitch, and have you got this straight?)

Because I forgive you, yes, for everything. I forgive you for
being beautiful and generous and wise,
I forgive you, to put it simply, for being alive, and pardon
you, in short, for being you.

Because tonight you are in my hair and eyes,
And every street light that our taxi passes shows me you
again, still you,
And because tonight all other nights are black, all other hours
are cold and far away, and now, this minute, the stars are
very near and bright.

Come back. We will have a celebration to end all celebrations.
We will invite the undertaker who lives beneath us, and a
couple of boys from the office, and some other friends.
And Steinberg, who is off the wagon, and that
insane woman who lives upstairs, and a few reporters, if
anything should break.

Like A Flower In The Rain
Charles Bukowski

I cut the middle fingernail of the middle
finger
right hand
real short
and I began rubbing along her c-nt
as she sat upright in bed
spreading lotion over her arms
face
and breasts
after bathing.
then she lit a cigarette:
"don't let this put you off,"
an smoked and continued to rub
the lotion on.
I continued to rub the c-nt.
"You want an apple?" I asked.
"sure, she said, "you got one?"
but I got to her-
she began to twist
then she rolled on her side,
she was getting wet and open
like a flower in the rain.
then she rolled on her stomach
and her most beautiful ass
looked up at me
and I reached under and got the
c-nt again.
she reached around and got my
cock, she rolled and twisted,
I mounted
my face falling into the mass
of red hair that overflowed
from her head
and my flattened cock entered
into the miracle.
later we joked about the lotion
and the cigarette and the apple.
then I went out and got some chicken
and shrimp and french fries and buns
and mashed potatoes and gravy and
cole slaw, and we ate.she told me
how good she felt and I told her
how good I felt and we
ate the chicken and the shrimp and the
french fries and the buns and the
mashed potatoes and the gravy and
the cole slaw too.
