If the following three sentences are all correct, do they mean the same thing?

1) I took up gardening a couple of months ago.

2) I got into gardening a couple of months ago.

3) I took to gardening a couple of months ago.

2. Got into - became interested in gardening
3. Took to - became fond of gardening
