The Patterson-Gimlin Film has been revealed to ba a hoax in a book by investigative journalist Greg Long.
The hoaxers lived in a Yakima Street.
This appeared in Fortean times, January 2005 Edition
nothing in the news here and I don't live that far away
Husker, I remember a few years ago reading the obit for the guy who had been one of the principle hoaxters. His family came forward disclosing his acts and displaying the props he used.
It was a big deal here in Portland.

Yeh, I heard about this several years ago. I didn't think it was news any more.
I am surprised that anyone, seeing that film, was taken in in the first place.
Boss I was young and I think we still had bw TV lol
He was movin along the ground like he was late for a meeting. I was a kid and even when a b unch of us saw the film, we wanted to go get our own gorilla suit and film it for Channel 8 in Lancaster Pa. But nobody could get anything other than a fur coatt and that resulted in a prolonged grounding by the mom.
It was a hokey attempt and I could never imagine where they dug up these apparently credible "experts" in hominid morphhology who did all kinds of graphic experiments aand produced graphs and charts that testified to the veracity of all that bullshit. I guess if you offer some people money , they will swear to anything.
I believe that even the famous Craighead Brothers ( grizzly researchers) were taken in.
I remember in Delaware a few years ago when some kids had a ufo that they were filming for the papers. It waS REAL LOOKING , THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THEY HAD THE WORD UFO WRITTEN ON THE SIDE,
D'OH
I recall reading about the death of the guy Boomerang is talking about. Come to think of it, I haven't heard much about Big Foot, or Sasquatch, in quite a while. He is the mascot for the Seattle Supersonics, but that's about it.
I guess there's enough weirdness in the real world to engage us these days...
I think that Sasquatch jumped the shark with "Harry and the Hendersons"
They still talk about Bigfoot if you visit Ape Cave on the south side of Mount St. Helens!
Well, that's reassuring...
I can't wait to se gungasnakes reply to this thread.
I recognize the name, but am unfamiliar with the style--what is it that one might anticipate from the said gungasnake?
By the Christian God that made you
And the Heathen God that named you
You're a better reptile than I
Gunga Snake . . .
Gungasnake is known for a revisionist view of things. To put it mildly. In one thread he refers to Rachel Carson as a worse mass murderer than Hitler...
Gunga always has a 'uniqe' perspective. His views are nothing if not entertaining.
Perhaps a complete revision of Gunga Din would be in order?
Here is a thread where gungasnake explains how humans were once aquatic creatures living with trilobites and sea urchins in the oceans of Mars before they were transferred to earth in the great flood.
