Kvetch as Catharsis

Is there any etymological connection between "catharsis" and "kvetch?" I know catharsis comes from Greek, to cleanse, and kvetch from Yiddish "kvetsn," to squeeze, press. But is there any common tie between the two words and their meanings. I'm thinking of kvetching as a kind of catharsis, but I don't know if there is any etymological basis to my idea. . .
