Which of the following sentences is correct?
1) This is the book I told you about yesterday afternoon.
2) This is the book I was telling you about yesterday afternoon.
If both are possible, do they mean the same thing?

both okay. pretty much the same meaning, i.e. I think in any sort of average interaction ou could use either one.
