Is the British English sentence "to pay money into a bank account" used in American English?

It would not be unheard of, but it would also not be common. The locution "pay money in" or "into" would more commonly be heard or read with regard to a retirement or investment fund.

Should I use "pay" or "put" in the sentence below?

I’ve paid / put $350 into my account.
