Is it "a takeover bid OF a company" or "a takeover bid FOR a company"?
If both are possible, do they mean the same thing?
If not, which would you use?
Would you please give me some examples?
Thank you.
@paok1970,
Of and for have their usual meanings. A takeover bid of (or by) Company A for Company B.
@centrox,
From Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English:
Thornbury has announced a takeover bid of a regional TV company.
My question is the following:
Would it be equally correct to write, "
Thornbury has announced a takeover bid for a regional TV company"?
Thank you.
