What exactly does it mean when someone adds you to a given Twitter list?

Are they just bulking up their personal numbers? I don't seem to get anything out of it be it positive or negative (that I'm aware of). I also don't follow through to see how relevant the lists tend to be or not.... Should I be mildly concerned?

@tsarstepan,
I have a twit answer to your question while you wait for a real answer...

I like that guy's name; it has a certain flow to it.

@tsarstepan,
Twitter lists are so you can get updates from people without following them. This is useful if you want to show that more people follow you than you follow (which makes you look like more of an influencer). It's also useful to have a private list for your competitors, for example.

I'm on a ton of other people's lists.

I'm on Massachusetts and Boston-type lists, writer lists, Quinnipiac lists, social media, etc.
