Is it possible to use the phrase/expression "(to be back) in the race" in a figurative way?

If so, when do you use it?

Would you please give me some examples?

Thank you.

@paok1970,
Good Q, Paok. Yea, indeed it's used that way

Now that I'm back in the race [I've resumed use of the Web], I return to A2k, for the opportunity to harass all the TAT

Doubtless Cen will respond with more expl and even better zmpl's, more 'figurative ' ?

Oh Paok, I'm sure you forgive, but anyhow pse see my recent OP 'gardin' abbrs etc

@dalehileman,
Oh, That's what he meant by "figurative". I thought he was talkin' about a figure-8 race. I've seen a few and guys usually didn't get back in them.
