@paok1970,

i've never heard "GETS" used that way.

"IS" can be used instead of "equals" in all four examples...

@paok1970,
2+3=5
Two add three equals five
Two plus three equals five
Two and three make(s) five

8-7=1
Eight minus seven equals one
Eight take away seven equals one
Eight less seven is one

4x6=24

Four sixes are twenty-four
Four times six make twenty-four
Four multiplied by six equals twenty-four

15:5=3
The ratio of fifteen to five is equal to three.

There are more probably ways to express these.

The colon symbol (Smile is used to expressed ratios where I come from; this symbol is used for division: / e.g. 10/2=5
could be expressed as:
Ten divided by two equals two.
Ten over two makes five
Half of ten is five.

I know of two ways using figures to express the relation of fifteen to five:

15:3 - fifteen to three (i.e. the colon is read as 'to')
15/3 - fifteen divided by three

You can also say (or write)
Fifteen to three is as three is to one.

In the ratio A:B, the numbers A and B are sometimes called "terms" with A being the antecedent term, and B being the consequent term.

In the expression "A is to B as C is to D", A, B, C and D are called the terms of the proportion. A and D are called the extremes, and B and C are called the means.

A lesson: think about what you are writing. Fifteen to three is as FIVE is to one!
