If I want to report the sentence "We will never be intimate again", which of the two should I use?

1) I told her that we will never be intimate again.

2) I told her that we would never be intimate again.

Thank you.

The answer is (2).

Direct speech: future (will); reported speech: would

(Direct) Joe: She will call me later
(Reported) Joe said she would call him later.

@paok1970,
How about "I'm sorry sweetheart, but I have decided to move to Argentina and be a gaucho." ?

@paok1970,
Pa again you're e to be c'grat't'd for a q that even the ol' Journ Stud couldn't immediately answer. Pullin' threads but (1) is more sure whereas in (2) there'a a faint implication that we might've changed our minds in the meantime

Guys, gals, help

Ok, since you lack a Prof, and maybe for good reason, curious to know more 'boutcha. As a perfectly normal but absolutely harmless idiot I am [email protected] , and if you don't use it I will 'stand

@centrox,
Don't you think that the "will" form should be used if the statement is still true and relevant? Am I right or wrong?

You could do that, but it wouldn't be reported speech any more.
