Is there a better way to express the above concept? What about "This is one of his ideas"?

It does sound "natural" to say "this is an idea of his". Writings don't have any sound. "This is one of his ideas" is equally good.

Ok, Cen is on the ball as usual, but it might prove interesting to observe that This is an idea of him can actually have a meaning, where reference is made to a description of the guy. So technically it could be called 'correct.'
