Invite someone or invite someone over

Is there a difference between "to invite someone" and "to invite someone over"?

If so, when should I use each of them?

Would you please give me a few examples?

Thank you.

@paok1970,
Yes there's a diff Paok. One might invite someone to do something or go somewhere, whereas 'over' implies to one's domicile. Hope others provide examples, but I'm taken to task for other chores
