Which of the following sentences is correct?

1) It's been ten months since we had that conversation.

2) It's been ten months since we have had that conversation.

They are both correct.

The first sentence is simpler. It suggests a single conversation (that happened at an specific point of time) ten months ago.

The second sentence suggests an ongoing conversation that has happened multiple times in the past... but that the last time you had this conversation is ten months ago.

The first is similar to the preterit tense in Spanish (and I suspect Italian). The second is similar to the imperfect tense.
