Is this true or pseudoscience?

It is said that the moon or moonlight draws the moisture to the surface.

I had a friend and colleague (now deceased) who was a botanist and argued exactly that. But it was not moon light that he identified as the cause. The moon creates earth tides as well as ocean tides, which in some parts of the world can distort the earth's crust as much as several feet daily. This distortion generates a mild direct electrical current that, he claimed, had a noticeable effect on plant growth.

I think the moon affects a lot of things...people included. I have no scientific proof of this but personal experience has shown me that around the time of the full moon, people act differently. Watch some time. It's amazing.
