From a figurative standpoint, should I use "get up" or get back up" in the sentence below?

It's really hard to get up / to get back up when you feel down/depressed.

Also, IN YOUR OWN WORDS, how would you express the above concept?

They basically mean the same thing, but get back up implies one has been knocked down whilst get up doesn't.
