Words for avoiding double work?

In a project where communication is lacking, I am looking for words to describe the wastes time and efforts of gathering details about a project that someone else has already gathered.
So if I've gathered, or am sultaneously gathering details about a new building working with stakeholders and decision makers, but you are appointed to replace me, or you get pulled in at the same time, what word(s) describe you having to spend time gathering all the same details from the same people that I already went through.
Inefficient comes to mind, double efforts, but it's not doing it for me.

@Garryshape,
How about "wasteful?" Of course you would need for the context to say why it's wasteful.

'Repetitive," maybe?

Duplicative?

@Garryshape,
In my line of work, we'd call it *duplication of service*
