When people met us, they think we are one,
Talk to me as if she's not there,
Stroke Survivor, still has a brain,
Educated lady,Author by name,
She's special someone with courage,
A fighter for sure,
My best friend, love of my life,
Her 5 year struggle,
Brain Surgery a fight for survival,
Bravery was a test,
To learn to speak again,
The words i wait,
Watch her take her first step,
A tear i cried,
To see the smile back on her face,
Now we can be one,
The lady i will marry.
Joe of Glasgow, your intended is quite lucky to be betrothed to you, and she is one courageous lady. Beautifully expressed, my friend.

Thanks Shewolfnm. Thank-you for those kind words. My girlfriend was in her 30s when she stroked. She has gained about 55 percent back and aiming for more. Hope you reach your 100 percent which i'm sure you will.
This is a delightful surprise, to stumble onto a lovely thread with good writing and a beautiful love story. I really need to spend more time in the Original Writing forum.
Joe, I can only repeat what others have said--your poem is stunning in its open love, strength and comapssion. I look forward to more. Good luck to you and nells.
