In elementry school some one recited a poem in my 6th grade class and I have never forgotten it... But, I can't remember who it was by or the name of it... maybe you can help.. I am now 66 years old and I have thought of this poem often and have always wanted a copy of it. I can give a few of the lines starting out but after that I get confused with the rest of it. The poem goes like this.....

shhhhh whispers who dare Christopher Robins is saying his prayers...
Oh God bless mama I know that's right, Oh wasn't it fun in the bath tonight... the cold so cold and the hot so hot, Oh god bless nana I quite forgot....

That is basically how the poem goes. I would like the Author and the name of this poes if possible... still searching..

Please e-mail me at [email protected] if you think you know the poem or you know it... I would really be thankful for anyone that can help me.

Alan Alexander Milne 1882-1956

VESPERS

Little Boy kneels at the foot of the bed,
Droops on the little hands little gold head.
Hush! Hush! Whisper who dares!
Christopher Robin is saying his prayers.

God bless Mummy. I know that's right.
Wasn't it fun in the bath to-night?
The cold's so cold, and the hot's so hot.
Oh! God bless Daddy - I quite forgot.

If I open my fingers a little bit more,
I can see Nanny's dressing-gown on the door.
It's a beautiful blue, but it hasn't a hood.
Oh! God bless Nanny and make her good.

Mine has a hood, and I lie in bed,
And pull the hood right over my head,
And I shut my eyes, and I curl up small,
And nobody knows that I'm there at all.

Oh! Thank you, God, for a lovely day.
And what was the other I had to say?
I said "Bless Daddy," so what can it be?
Oh! Now I remember it. God bless Me.

Little Boy kneels at the foot of the bed,
Droops on the little hands little gold head.
Hush! Hush! Whisper who dares!
Christopher Robin is saying his prayers.

Christopher Robin (A.A. Milne's son) is probably best known as the friend and companion of Winnie the Pooh.
