Cause of stain on lithograph

Reply Thu 11 May, 2017 08:38 am
I have an archival framed lithograph from 1910. There is a purple stain that was most certainly present when it was framed. I know it is a 4-ply, woven paper. Any idea what would have caused the stain?

Thank you.
