Seven supermarket checkout staff who all worked on the same till have fallen pregnant within months of each other.

The women all did shifts on till number 10 at the Morrisons store in Failsworth, Manchester. First of all 31-year-old Penny Boardman gave birth in May.

Colleagues Sinead Ginty and Trudi Eladihab, aged 21 and 29, followed suit in June, and 32-year-old Carol Jamieson joined the club in July. Tina Priest, 28, Lauren Baldwin, 17 and Claire Walker, 32, are all due to give birth in December.

Tereza Denniston, who works at the supermarket cafe but has never sat at till 10, also had a baby in August.

The store's deputy manager Simon Heaton said: "It is very unusual to have eight members of staff falling pregnant within such a short space of time but when you consider that seven of them have worked on the same till it seems even more remarkable.

"There has been a wonderful feel-good factor about the store since the girls all announced their news. I just hope they all shop here for their baby clothes, food, toys and nappies."
