Is a dead person trying to call me?

I had a call on my cell - it was recorded as having a message, but when I looked/listened to my message - the message said it couldn't be translated (to view) and when I sent to listen .... silence no background noise or anything.

So today I looked up the number and found the name associated with it- It is an 81 year old woman residing in an area that I could likely know someone so it wasn't out of the possibility of a "real" call to me. I did a google search for the name and found an obituary from 2004 on her.

Am I getting calls from the dead? Should I be afraid? Odd that they have her dead in one place, but shown as being alive at 81 somewhere else. Same bat number same bat address in all places.

@Linkat,
Be aware of interdimensional calls. I suspect "flatlanders" miss you and want you back.

@Linkat,
If it's like some of my neighbours they never change the name associated with a phone number. We've got quite a few dead phone neighbours.

Beware collect calls from the dead. Always reverse the charges.

@jespah,
They still have this person as owning the home too along with her deceased husband.

@Linkat,
Dead calls happen a lot, machines call a load of numbers at once so the marketer is constantly having to talk, silence no background noise or anything, is what you get when nobody is ready to take your call. They might have just taken the number on, and either not got round to changing it, or not bothering, because if you knew what they did you wouldn't bother phoning them back.

If her child lived with her when she died, she might have just continued to pay the phone bill when it came in.

@tsarstepan,
Damn I have AT&T - it is a work phone so I don't have a choice in the provider.

I don't want two cell phones so I just use my one work phone. (bad enough having one where someone can reach you 24/7 even the dead).

You should take up writing epic 1000+ page novels. Your prose is magnificent and colossally dynamic.
