Can you identify this local Nashville legend?

When in Nashville, an older gentleman, big 10 gallon white hat, suit with bow tie was at several of the bars. The musicians all seemed thrilled to see him. He stopped in at Tootsies. His picture was on the wall at Tootsies too. Later he was in Honky Tonk and went up on stage with the band. He had a body guard with him. I believe his name was Billy Bass/Bash or something like that. Can anyone identify him?
