For anybody who hasn't figured this out yet, the deep state and military-industrial complex want Russia as a permanent adversary because Russia is the only theoretical adversary which can justify the fat cat pocket lining technologies and projects, particularly things like aircraft carriers and that F 35 fighter jet.

The F 35 is the basic answer to how you would go about creating $1 billion fighter plane which would lose a dog fight to an F 86 and possibly even to a P51. A better approach to providing our Air Force with planes might be to simply declare the United States to be a Christian nation (like Russia) and try to sign a deal allowing us to purchase Сухой aircraft.

The entire business is monumentally stupid and has led to the present situation in which 57% of discretionary spending is going towards our military while our infrastructure crumbles.

@gungasnake,
There's a lot of them Russians.

Food stamps? Or cold hard rubles?

I was quite surprised to see the activity in Syria, considering how effective US trade sanctions had been. Poor old Saudis almost bit the bullet as well.

@Builder,
Russians may have actually overtaken is in several key areas of military technology, particularly electronic warfare and aviation. The Su35 and 36 are particularly splendid aircraft, unlike the flying pig (f35)....

@gungasnake,
And their alliances are growing, so their technical "reach" grows, as well as their collective intel.

They may not be the terrible enemy they once were, but by no means should the Russian Govt be put on any sort of pedestal either. So far as most govt's of the world go, Russia is certainly towards the bottom of any ranking of fair, open or transparency.

Let's not forget that Putin is not a nice man.

@McGentrix,
Putin is the best ruler Russia has ever had since Tsar Peter. The situation he inherited in 02 was beyond catastrophic and he has totally turned it around.

@gungasnake,
Mussolini made the trains run on time and Hitler created Volkswagen. Doesn't make them good people.

(I am paraphrasing for when Walter jumps in with his literal recount of history.)

@McGentrix,
The war criminal Nixon ordered the carpet bombing of Cambodia "everything [we have] that flies on anything [on the ground] that moves" and his war criminal junior Kissinger related those commands and a million innocents died.

If the US were the equal of Hitler and Mussolini, you might have a case. They are much much more evil for a much much longer period of time.

Russia stands against American interests in the Middle East. They stand against American interests in Europe. They are allies with Assad and with Iran. They stand against American values of a free-press, an independent judiciary and rights for minority groups. They assassinate people who are a threat to the government (these are actual documented assassinations, not Right wing wet dreams about Clinton and Obama).

My son is currently serving in the Army.

There is a real possibility that some day my son will face off against Russian troops. This is something that they are specifically training for. They are learning how to face Russian weapons and tactics.

If this happens I will be on the side of the US troops. Will you?

While the US is committing terrorist acts against both Syria and Iran. While the US has been committing war crimes in the ME with wild abandon, Russia has been trying to calm things. While the US has been causing the refugee problems throughout the world, Russia has been trying to fix them.

Why would you want your son to be involved with war criminals and terrorists?

The likelihood of that is less than zero. Why would anyone side with the country that has illegally invaded over 70 times since WWII? What miniscule chance is there that the US will be involved in a legitimate military exercise - less than zero.

If your son starts to fight the Russians, kiss his ass and yours goodbye, and everyone else's in the time you would have to do so.

This illustrates just how nutty you all are, even the ones of you who pretend to be liberal. It's a large percentage of Americans, nutty all, who think that Russia is a threat when it is now, when it has never been, any kind of threat.

@camlok,
I used the term "American interests". I said nothing about war crimes.

I would be curious about what act of war you think is not a crime. But that type of discussion doesn't really have anything to do with the point that I was making.

@camlok,
I find it amusing that on this thread at least, Gungasnake and camlok are in lockstep agreement.

They are one and the same.

That is incredibly simple. Legitimate/legal wars first, that follow international law. If it doesn't then all that follows is a war crime.

@maxdancona,
It is much more amusing and shocking that you are not. Typical brainwashed American.
