A Royal Marine who had a leg removed to save his career is bidding to become the first below-knee amputee to ski to the South Pole.
Captain Jim Bonney, 26, will be part of a seven-man team which sets off on the 55 day ice-marathon in a year's time.
The 730 mile Polar Quest expedition will be made up of Royal Marines and Royal Navy personnel, as well as one cadet.
