Having teenage girls - we now have a couple of prom dresses (both wore once) and a few semi-formal/homecoming dresses. I asked my daughter what we should do with them. My younger daughter if she fits in them is unlikely to wear them - imagine having prom pictures where you have the same dress as your sister?! At least the semi-formals were worn again at weddings. But prom dresses are really only able to wear at proms.
Any way my daughter said that girls try to sell them via instagram - which doesn't make sense since they would be trying to sell them to other girls in the same school. Does it make sense to try and sell them to a consignment shop? Or Craig's list?
No spoiled brat comments please about only wearing once - we actually go the dresses for a steal online.
@Linkat,
I believe there are charities for prom dresses for less fortunate girls. Ah, here it is:

@Linkat,
Many big cities have organizations which will gladly take gently used prom dresses, as there are plenty of young ladies who cannot afford to purchase them. Possibly a Google search for your nearest big city will turn up a result.
@jespah,
Not sure if we have an Anton's but I know there is a Jordan's furniture is.
