Sick of pointless questions just designed to waste your time? There's a word for it, sealioning.

@roger,
I do Roger, we are as tight as ticks. (praying furiously that no one asks me what that means.)

@glitterbag,
Yes you did. If my English isn't clear enough then tough. Nobody else seems to have a problem with it. I'm not going to waste time rephrasing words, searching for the mot juste in some forlorn hope that the lights may come on.

@izzythepush,

Anything that wastes your time pointlessly counts, like getting you to look for something in a video that's not even there when the person who posted it hasn't watched it. Even after you've seen it and you point out that no evidence has been presented to support their case, they still vehemently insist on being right.

Have you had to deal with something/someone like that?

Now that you mention it........
OK, so sealioning is a poster who wastes your time by denying evidence, among other things. I guess I could go along with that.

@Blickers,
You know when it's happening, maybe not initially, but it doesn't take long to realise they're not interested in anything other than intransigence and denial.

Sealioning wastes your time by politely asking you to explain and justify points that a three-year-old would find obvious.

If someone flatly contradicts reality, they are just being intransigent.

Just joking, Izzy. Didn't mean anything by it. Your English is just fine.

@TomTomBinks,
I post first thing in the morning, before my brain is fully engaged. The penny dropped after I'd had my coffee but by then it was too late. Sorry for being a dozy git.

@izzythepush,
I just read that you are a sci-fi writer. Where can I buy one of your stories?

@TomTomBinks,
I'll send you a link. Nobody can say you're not prepared to learn new stuff even if it's just a list of profanities, which, to be honest is all you're likely to learn from me.

@izzythepush,
Maybe, but my favorite phrase you wrote was, "If we didn't give you the Magna Carta, you'd still be naked and climbing up in trees to throw poo at others."

It's late and I may not have been as accurate quote, but that phrase made me laugh out loud.

@glitterbag,
Thank you, I paraphrased Swift. And I think the person in question probably does, he's that sort. I wouldn't be surprised if he put that on his dating profile. There's someone out there for all of us right?

@TomTomBinks,
I will epublish, but I've got to edit it first, and I'm half way through a panto right now. I write in fits and bursts, have to be in the right mood.

I'm happy to send you the file though. I think the second book it better, it's funnier. What I'm looking for is the mix of horror and comedy that was in American Werewolf In London. Not saying I've got there, but that's my aim. I'll pm you.

Could you ask one of your university friends, that took some psychology, if this sealioning doesn't fall under the main heading of, "passive aggressive behavior"? I just love when colloquial terms take the place of academic terms.
