We should have a test for admission to the United States. It should be a grammar test. There would be a helluva lot of Americans who would not dare travel outside the U.S.

@Setanta,
Of course that would only affect Americans... Rolling Eyes

42% of Canadian adults between the ages of 16 and 65 have low literacy skills.

55% of working age adults in Canada are estimated to have less than adequate health literacy skills. Shockingly, 88% of adults over the age of 65 appear to be in this situation

We could be rid of Trump after his first trip abroad!

When talking about the Brexit result Ricky Gervais pointed out that bleach bottles have "Do not drink" written on them in large letters. We should remove that warning for a couple of years and then have the referendum again.

Even grammarians get it wrong

@Setanta,
Well, based on the hemisphere the U.S. is in, and the fact that there is tacit acceptance of Spanish being a second language, even though it is not the "dominant" language, the test could be for Spanish grammer, since Spanish has rules in grammer that do not change as English has all sort of exceptions. Then the U.S. might become Hispanic, and the English speaking folks could become the new refugee class. ("And, the first shall come last, and the last shall come first."

I take exception of you using grammar improperly.

Grammer could be someone who defines or uses grams or something..

Not in the USA they couldn't be. No grams here. Or meters or kilos.

Technically speaking, that could actually be a sensible warning. Peanuts are not classified as nuts, but as legumes. However, the confectionary factories which turn out peanut treats also usually make treats with pecans, walnuts, etc, which are actual nuts. The warning you saw might be useful to warn someone who is not allergic to peanuts but is allergic to walnuts, pecans, etc, that it could touch off an allergic reaction.

Of course, many times more people are allergic to peanuts than are allergic to walnuts and pecans, so it remains a puzzling warning.

@Blickers,
really? I dealt with meters fairly often, have rulers even now to prove it, all this back in my design days. I once in a while use grams re my interest in cooking. Maybe my interests are wider.
