Princess Margarita and Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn leave the Saint Marie cathedral after their wedding in 2001

THE HAGUE (AFP) - Dutch princess Margarita de Bourbon, the 32-year old niece of Queen Beatrix, placed an advertisement in a Dutch newspaper informing her husband that she is filing for divorce.

The advertisement, published in the Dutch christian daily Trouw by a bailiff, demands that Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn "without known residence in or outside of the Netherlands" respond before January 21 to the divorce filing.

Taking out an advert is a legal obligation in divorce proceedings where one of the parties has no known or fixed address.

The Dutch press already reported in August that princess Margarita intended to divorce De Roy van Zuydewijn, a businessman with a controversial reputation, whom she married in 2001.

Margarita became the black sheep of the Dutch royal family last year when she gave a series of interviews to a Dutch magazine depicting the royal family in a unflattering light.

As Dutch (and other) media pointed out on the advertisement, Margarita seems to have lost track of De Roy van Zuydewijn's whereabouts,

(As reporting such an advertisement is legally required if the other party has no fixed address or an unknown address.)

That's what I think as well.

On the other site, "official notices" - like done here in Germany - on the court's offices public notice-boards wont have such a great a great readership

She's a Bourbon. I had thought that line had died out.

The full name of this Dutch princess is Margarita Maria Beatriz de Bourbon de Parme.

The Bourbon-Parmas are married (and still marry) to quite a lot of European royal and high nobilty houses (Emperess Zia of Austria was a Bourbon-Parma).

Still existing are the other three Bourbon lines as well: Bourbon Two Sicilies (titles: Duchess/Duke, Princes), of course the Royal House of Bourbon (Spain) and the Bourbon-Orléans in France.

I had forgotten that Juan Carlos of Spain was a Bourbon (Borbon).
