Hipsters are too revealing, says school
One of Italy's largest secondary schools has banned hipster jeans and other types of revealing clothes.
Headteacher Angelo Bernardini said the flesh-revealing fashion must-haves were "vulgar and indecent" and "made teachers' jobs almost impossible".
Italians have long been known for their sense of fashion, style and grace.
But the move is likely to trigger a wider crackdown on the wearing of midriff-exposing, crevice-revealing clothes in schools.
Mr Bernardini, principal of the 1,600-pupil Liceo Vitruvio Pollione said his patience snapped when on a school trip to a cathedral, a boy wearing fashionable loose-fit, hip-hugging jeans looked down to see his trousers had fallen around his ankles.
"Just as covering your face with a burka is excessive . . so is it beyond the bounds of decency to wear trousers that, when you sit down, reveal your bottom," he said in a school circular.
