Best wishes from 2017. It began here one hour and twenty minutes ago.

Hoping it's a kinder and gentler year for you

Keep fighting the bad stuff

It is interesting that so many people feel that 2016 sucked

Any guesses as to why?

@Leadfoot,
If 2016 really was worth than so many others I do not know. Guess it feels like it as any even the smallest bad news is mailed, reported, shown on TV and constatnt repeated in the news.
Hopefully things will be better during 2017.

@Leadfoot,
TRump
Syria
Refugee crisis catalysing racist reaction in many European and Anglo countries
Poor economy in many places
Disturbing evidence of effects of global warming
Los of deaths affecting people close to me and also me
Increasing wealth for the rich and poorer and poorer economic climate for those not super wealthy
I could go on and on

Of course these aren't just about 2016

@dlowan,
Global life expectancy continues to go up:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/29/Life_Expectancy_at_Birth_by_Region_1950-2050.png

Global median income continues to rise
Global literacy percentage and educational attainment continues to rise

Freedom continues to advance. One century ago most of the world lived in "colonies" which were owned by a handful of countries in Europe.

There has never been a time in history where the possibility of a long, full, happy life for a greater percentage of people was as attainable as now.

Happy 2017

@dlowan,
Woke up at eight this morning. Slight headache from the two drinks I had last night. Somebody a few houses down has music playing full volume. At least the weather is nice.
