My veterinarian neutered my cat and told me he had performed a proud cut on him. What does this mean?

welcome to A2K suzy...i googled and could not find anything about a "proud" cut...but am pleased to tell you fighting, roaming and urine marking should be decreased..and thanks for helping control the pet population.

This is in reference to horses but seems to apply. Either some testicular tissue was not removed or the cat still retains pre-neutering behaviors (possibly due to excessive adrenal gland production).

I've heard of cats neutered with the testicles retained. The vet said unneutered males would pick fights with a cat without testicles, but leave one alone if he "looked right"... dono if that's true, it's my female (spayed) that gets in all the tussles!
