I wonder why John Lennon is more popular in the USA than he is/was here.

I did not care for him much as a person nor as a solo artist but I think he was more than a quarter of The Beatles. And I think his strange voice, with its aggressive edge, was the reason the Beatles took off initially. The songwriting talent revealed itself later. I've got a feeling McCartney was the music writer of the two, Lennon the lyrics, but I've got no facts to back that up.

I liked the Revolver LP and the White album.
"Taxman", that's good.
And "Why Don't We Do It In The Road?"

bunkum Limeys. Let's not forget that John found England opressive and NY the center of the arts
universe.

"Imagine" was his gift to the world. A beautiful song of peace and hope, even more touching after his demise.

Yes, McTag. McCartney was the real lyricist:

The Long And Winding Road Lyrics

The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I've seen that road before
It always leads me here
leads me to your door.

The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day.
Why leave me standing here?
Let me know the way.

Many times I've been alone
And many times I've cried,
Anyway you'll never know
The many ways I've tried.

But still they lead me back
To the long, winding road
You left me standing here
A long, long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door.

But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me waiting here
A long, long time ago (ohhh)
Don't keep me standing here
Lead me to your door.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...

Why don't we do it in the Road? Very Happy
