An artificial throat has been developed to help drinks manufacturers make better pop.
The throat, which can swallow and breathe, is intended to take the place of panels of human tasters, Alexandra Boelrijk, from the Dutch company NIZO Food Research, told New Scientist magazine
Exhaled breath picks up molecules from drink or food and carries them up the nose. This information is especially important with drinks, because they spend so little time in the mouth before being swallowed.
