OH NO! NOT THE 80s!

I too thought for a while that a cappella was re one person, but not sure.

Later I thought it was just one person in my life, getting to see and hear Joan Baez in (I think) the San Diego sports arena, no one else there on the stage.

My error. It was clearly a cappella. The sound was finger snapping but my brain translated it as a battery of harpsichords.
