Steely Dan put out their last album before the break-up in 1980. This was the "hit" from that album:

I always liked the Allen Parsons Project, but Allen Parsons himself kind of creeps me out.

Everybody's getting down on Allen Parsons. What did this guy do-shoot somebody? Anyhow, I've always loved this one. PS: For those who don't know, the guy singing is not Allen Parsons.

If you mean that you don't understand the thread, it's just a good time place for music from the 1980s. If you mean you don't understand the song by Journey, I'm not going to try to explain that.

This a cappella tune is my favorite song by Billy Joel.

Well, i don't want to be rude here. That's just Billy and the boys singing and snapping their fingers.

@roger,

There's no instruments in that song. Just Billy and the boys voices.

Barney Fife explains it all....

I'm almost positive I heard a bass instrument, as opposed to a bass voice, on that song.
Edit: I thought so.
Quote:
The song features Joel on lead vocals and all backing vocals. Two musical instruments are present in the song: a bass guitar and a snare drum being played with brushes.
