Church bells continue ringing

A vicar who was warned that his church bells were keeping parishioners awake has been told that they can continue to ring.

The Rev Geoff Waggett feared he would be forced to silence them or face prosecution but after noise level testing, the local council has decided that the bells were not a nuisance.

Mr Waggett was told by Blaenau Gwent environmental health officials last month that two residents living near Christ Church had complained about late-night chimes and they would be testing noise levels.
